Social Distancing to reduce the risk of Pandemic Influenza

If pandemic influenza occurs:

• Vaccine will not be available for 6 months.
• Antivirals will be used to treat the ill.
• Society, including governmental functions, may be disrupted.

The main defense will be Social Distancing.

Social distancing plans are based on the scientific knowledge of how the influenza virus spreads. This knowledge is then applied to the activities of life to reduce the risk of exposure.

This site does not supply just a check list. It gives specific direction and examples to help you make a plan for you and your family.

This site is in process of continual improvement. It needs collaborative partners:

• scientists to refine the assumptions on which social distancing plans are based.
• health educators to help the presentations of how individuals and groups devise a plan.
• individuals to submit plans that will enable other to discover options for their plans.
